Qualifications
• Current American Red Cross lifeguard certification, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer (required)
• Current Louisville Metro Board of Health work permit (required)
• American Red Cross lifeguard instructor certification (obtain within 6 months)
• Strong swimming skills
• Knowledge of lifesaving equipment and lifesaving techniques
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Individual must be capable of handling supervisory role over peers
• This person must be able to climb in and out of all guard chairs, stand and sit for long periods of time and get in and out of the pool as needed
• Handling and exposure to chlorine and other pool chemicals required
• Ability to lift 100 pounds
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule which would include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities
The Aquatics Operations Supervisor will:

-ensure the safety of all pool areas, supervise pool activities and ensure the lifeguards perform their job adequately
• Hiring, training and scheduling of lifeguards and summer pool staff.
• Daily pool maintenance and pool area cleanliness
• Interact professionally with members and guests
• Monitor water chemistry and maintain log of maintenance
• Respond appropriately to any incidents or accidents:
o Assume leadership, assess the situation and alert necessary staff
o Administer and/or assist with first aid
o Complete necessary paperwork and submit before end of shift day of occurrence
• Ensure that station rotations are occurring properly
• Will lifeguard when necessary
• Regularly attend and lead in-service
• This person is responsible for completing any other assignments required by the Assistant Aquatics and/or Aquatics Director

 

Pay: $40,000-$45,000 annually

Certification Requirements (Any)

Jefferson County Board of Health Certification
Lifeguard Certification
