Job Skills / Requirements

Position Summary:

  • Under administrative direction performs administrative and patient care dental work.  Responsible for planning, managing and coordinating the programs and activities of the Dental Department as well as performing patient care and supervising the dental staff at Park DuValle Community Health Center.  Performs related work as required.


Primary Position Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct patient care by diagnosing and treating dental conditions and or disease.
  2. Monitor Dental employees’ time and attendance
  3. Approval of Requests for leave: sick, vacation, CE, FMLA, etc.
  4. Assemble, calculate and display monthly productivity reports.
  5. Monitor and manage clinic coverage schedules of Dentists and Dental Hygienists
  6. Assists in maintaining or developing patient database for strong recall system.
  7. Coordinator of material and updating of OSHA guidelines and preparation and maintenance of office manual and MSDS Manual
  8. Responsible for recording staff in-service and continuing education data and providing information on upcoming continuing education events. Maintain CE days/monies
  9. Compile data and information for monthly Quality Improvement reports, including special procedure reports, meaningful use and PCMH reports on a monthly basis.
  10. Monitor and maintain equipment service, autoclave sterilization, X-ray equipment service, post-extraction, infection surveillance and professional credentials logs.
  11. Interviews candidates and recommends staff to be hired
  12. Chairs departmental meetings.
  13. Handles dental patient complaints.
  14. Addresses dental department concerns
  15. Orienting ULSD, UKCD, and dental assisting students for rotations/AHECs
  16. Adheres to universal precautions
  17. Must maintain patient confidentiality.
  18. Evaluations of the dental department with Year End Appraisals and Peer Review
  19. Maintains a minimum of 2358 encounters annually.
  20. Other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel

Education Requirements (Any)

Graduate of accredited School of Dentistry
