Job Skills / Requirements

Under moderate supervision, performs all assembly, sewing, die cutting, packaging, filling, and inspection of sewn and related products.  Performs product change-over, set-ups, machine adjustments and preventive maintenance as required by SOP’s.  Assists in training new and replacement operators in all phases of operation and fills in where needed during peak production times or in the absence of other workers. 
 
Will work as a team member in close proximity with co-workers in a fast-paced, repetitive operation.

They will make certain their own assigned tasks have been completed satisfactorily and to standards that are set for the team.  |  1. |  Assembles materials in preparation for sewing, operating sewing machines, filling packages, separates batches and prepares for die cutting. Die cuts materials in preparation for packing. Conducts final inspection and packing to ensure all quality standards are met of sewn products and related items for shipment or inventory.                                |   (75%)
 |  3. |  Accurately completes all necessary paper work and forms related to products and equipment including data collection. Performs appropriate ERP computerized manufacturing transactions. Correctly follows all current FDA-required good manufacturing practices.                       |  (10%)
 |  4. | Cross trains in other areas to provide additional coverage and support during peak production times.  |  (5%)

Job Requirements
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Worker Characteristics
 
  1. Ability to read, understand and follow written directions.
  2. Accurately apply Shop math skills while also using measuring tools (i.e., micrometer, ruler).
  3. Ability to differentiate between colors and thicknesses of articulating paper.
  4. Manual dexterity to handle products and operate small hand tools including sewing machine and scissors.
  5. Ability to set-up, operate, perform operator maintenance on light equipment safely and efficiently to meet production standards.
  6. Record keeping skills needed to review and complete manufacturing orders and forms including ability to comprehend lot tracing of products. 
  7. Able to correctly perform appropriate ERP computerized manufacturing transactions. 
  8. Learn and follow all current FDA-required good manufacturing practices to consistently meet applicable requirements and specifications. Time management skills are essential in order to complete tasks and assignments.
 
 
Summary Education & Experience Required
 
High school diploma or GED.  Experience as an industrial sewing machine operator, assembly or hand assembly work is preferred. 
 
Working Conditions
 
 
 
This position is in a non-climate controlled, fast-paced, manufacturing environment with daily exposure to dust and where noise levels may be high due to machinery. The role requires prolonged sitting as well as standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting of objects while performing repetitive job functions. Team members must use manual dexterity for operating machinery and tools and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Safety protocols are mandatory, including wearing PPE.  The environment requires maintaining cleanliness and may involve exposure to hazardous materials.  In some areas team members are required to wear a negative pressure respirator. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, along with compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
