Job Skills / Requirements

Under minimal supervision, supports various human resources functions and partners with leadership and supervisors to ensure a safe work environment for all team members.  This position coordinates HR activities such as recruitment, onboarding, orientation and training and is ultimately responsible for implementing and overseeing workplace safety programs and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Functions and Responsibilities   

 | 1. | Safety and Compliance Training Responsible for developing content and administering training that meets both federal, state and local requirements as it relates to employment law and safety to ensure continued compliance.    Proactively conduct and coordinate on-site training and safety related inspections.  Serve as point of contact for safety audits.   Remain up to date with employment laws and OSHA regulations to ensure that materials and trainings are relevant.  Accurately maintain safety rosters and related documents to include OSHA 300 Logs as well as timely filing and posting reports as required by OSHA.   Processes Workers Compensation claims identifying root causes and assisting with developing and implementing approved safety recommendations.  | 55%

 | 2. | Recruitment – partner with hiring managers to recruit, screen, interview and successfully onboard new team members.  Conduct new hire orientation.   | 30%

 | 3. | Acts as backup and support for payroll processing and payroll related functions.   | 5%

 | 4. | Provides support to employees on benefits issues, payroll, policy interpretation and other general questions. | 5%

 | 5. | Maintains accurate employee records. | 5%

Job Requirements
     
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Worker Characteristics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.  
  • Experience with vendor sites to train and service employees is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present clearly in small to large group settings.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy while handling various deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State labor laws.
Summary Education & Experience Required
·         Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
·         Minimum of (3) three years’ experience in human resources, safety coordination,                or related role.
·         Certification in OSHA is a plus.
·         Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted.
      
Working Conditions
This position is based in a manufacturing facility, with an office setting.  There may be occasional exposure to mild levels of dust, noise, mechanical parts, and vehicles in the production area.  Prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing and walking.  Manual dexterity to operate office equipment as well as occasional reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds.  Communicating effectively both in person and virtually or over the phone as well as working on a computer screen for extended periods of time.  These physical requirements are designed to ensure the individual can perform the essential functions of their job effectively while maintaining their safety.  A reasonable accommodation may be requested to enable individual to perform an essential function.
