Job Skills / Requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

Works alongside with paramedics and other emergency medical personnel to assess situations and provide medical treatment until arriving at the appropriate medical facility. Assists other personnel in administering advanced life support to patients as needed. Appropriately assesses, stabilizes, and transports patients to the appropriate medical facility, driving emergency vehicles as needed, and completing patient reports after their care. Uses good resolution skills to make sound decisions. Must be able to handle high-stress or dangerous situations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 

  • Active KY EMT license required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no traffic violations and EMS Driver’s Training.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology for the English language.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Works cooperatively, communicates effectively.
  • Follows oral and written instructions.
 

Certification Requirements (Any)

KY EMT License
EMS Driver's Training, Pediatric Head Trauma, Sexual Awareness Training
BLS
