The Cost Accountant will be responsible for working with the Director of Decision Support to implement, maintain, and optimize the use of the cost accounting system at Harrison Memorial Hospital. They are responsible for ensuring the integrity and level of trust in cost accounting required to leverage it as a strategic asset within the organization. They are also responsible keeping abreast of evolving best practices related to cost accounting and working with the Director to assess and adopt them as appropriate. 
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
o   Responsible for the development, maintenance, and decision-making needs of cost accounting in Meditech.

o   Updates cost accounting factors on a monthly basis.

o   Verify the reconciliation of updated/allocated cost accounting to the GL on a monthly basis. 

o   Develops an ongoing process (materials and education) to ensure that the appropriate users have the appropriate level of understanding to effectively explain/defend the cost accounting data that is the key to Profit and Loss analysis.

o   Serves as the definitive expert on cost accounting when questions arise.

o   Oversees and updates cost accounting standards as appropriate based on need and priorities.

o   Updates overhead allocation statistics on an ongoing basis.  Coordinates with cost report completion and other processes to ensure updates occur on an annual basis (at a minimum).

o   Works with finance and others to maintain consistent definition of departments, accounts, job codes, earnings codes, direct / indirect and variable/fixed between Cost Account, Finance, Budget and Productivity.
Provides technical support and assistance in the on-going development, and maintenance of Meditech, its interfaces and other related subsystems as it relates to cost accounting.   This may include (but is not limited to):

o   GL 

o   Payroll
The successful candidate will have a bachelors degree in finance or accounting, and 3-5 years experience specifically in cost accounting.  Healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
