Job Skills / Requirements

Job Summary/Purpose

Direct and assist dietary employees engage in food preparation and meal service to ensure that the operations of the department run smoothly. Responsible for ordering and receiving food and supplies.  Responsible for keeping all storage areas clean, neat, and organized with all foods rotated and stored according to state regulations.  Prepares work assignment sheets for employees. Helps with selection of personnel and supervises their orientation, on the job training, and work performance.  Assist manager in the planning of special functions.  Responsible for serving, cooking, and/or supervising meals for special meetings.  Assist manager with monitoring and tracking of quality and performance improvement.  Assist Dietary Manager with tracking information needed for end-of-month reporting.  Works staff relief as needed within the department.  Performs as Dietary Manager in the absence of the manager.

 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Orders and receives all food, chemicals, and paper supplies.
  • Conducts annual inventory.
  • Checks for proper storage of all food and paper supplies.
  • Handles food in accordance with sanitation regulations.
  • Plans directs, and coordinates activities for the department in absence of the Dietary Manager.
  • Reviews problems, progress, and future endeavors with the Dietary Manager.
  • Assist Dietician with patient, cafeteria, daycare, and eldercare menus.
  • Conduct equipment inventory daily to ensure efficiency.
  • Assist both internal and external customers with any issues/concerns that arise.
  • Make decisions related to food production in the best interest of the department in the absence of the Dietary Manager.

Required Education, Skills, Abilities:

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Food Safety Manager certification through ServSafe or another approved accreditation
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cooking
  • Communicate effectively
  • Works cooperatively
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Excellent customer service

Education Requirements (All)

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT

Certification Requirements (All)

Food Safety Manager certification through ServSafe or another approved accreditation

This is a Full-Time position 1st Shift, Flexible between hours of 6am - 6pm.
