Job Skills / Requirements
Job Summary:
The EVS Shift Lead serves as the working lead for Environmental Services staff during assigned shifts, ensuring that cleanliness, safety, and infection control standards are met throughout the hospital. This role provides hands-on support, guidance, and direction to EVS Technicians while assisting with daily operations and responding to urgent cleaning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee daily cleaning assignments and shift coverage
- Serve as a point of contact for staff questions and issue resolution during the shift
- Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with hospital cleaning protocols
- Assist with onboarding and on-the-job training of new EVS team members
- Report shift performance concerns, supply needs, and equipment issues to the EVS Manager
- Participate in cleaning and disinfection duties as needed, including patient rooms, surgical areas, and common spaces
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of discharge and terminal cleanings
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and respect among staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of environmental services or housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Previous leadership or team lead experience required
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention standards and cleaning procedures
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods
Education Requirements (All)
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT
