Job Skills / Requirements
Position Summary:
The KidTown Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and daily operations of the Harrison Memorial Hospital KidTown Child Development Center. This position ensures compliance with all applicable state licensing regulations and standards, delivers a high-quality childcare program, and fosters a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. The Director oversees all staff, curriculum planning, budgeting, enrollment, and family engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the daycare to ensure a safe, clean, and engaging environment that meets or exceeds state licensing requirements and developmental standards.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable Kentucky Division of Child Care regulations, health and safety codes, and hospital policies.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate childcare staff, ensuring they meet required certifications and standards.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and educational activities in collaboration with teaching staff.
- Monitor enrollment levels and maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios at all times.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding child development, center policies, and upcoming events.
- Manage the center’s budget, supplies, and vendor contracts in collaboration with hospital administration.
- Conduct regular safety drills and inspections; oversee documentation of incidents and ensure timely reporting.
- Act as the primary liaison between the daycare center and regulatory agencies, including during inspections or audits.
- Maintain accurate records for each child and staff member, including immunizations, training, and emergency contacts.
- Ensure professional development opportunities for staff to maintain certifications and enhance program quality.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred
- Will accept Childcare Director Credential and experience in lieu of education.
- Must meet all qualifications required for a director under Kentucky state licensing regulations.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education best practices, developmental milestones, and regulatory compliance.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff, families, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in using childcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
