Job Summary/Purpose:

The ICU State Registered Nursing Aide (SRNA) provides direct patient care and assistance under the supervision of licensed nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit of a smaller hospital. This role supports nursing and medical teams by attending to patients’ basic needs, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with critical care procedures to ensure patient comfort, safety, and quality care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist ICU nurses in providing care to critically ill patients, including hygiene, feeding, positioning, and mobility support.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure accurately and promptly.
  • Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising nurse.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of ICU equipment and supplies.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) while maintaining dignity and comfort.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in transporting patients within the hospital as needed.
  • Participate in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized ICU environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide compassionate care.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Valid KY State Registered Nursing Aide (SRNA) certification required.
  • Previous experience in critical care or acute care preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of ICU environment and equipment preferred.
  • BLS
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, transferring, and assisting patients.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient safety, privacy, and quality care standards.
