Job Summary:
The Rural Health Registration Clerk is responsible for providing courteous and efficient patient registration services in a rural healthcare setting. This role involves accurately collecting and verifying patient demographic, insurance, and financial information while ensuring compliance with privacy laws and facility policies. The Clerk supports the smooth flow of patient check-in and check-out processes and acts as a key point of contact for patients visiting the rural health clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival.
- Collect and verify patient demographic information including name, address, date of birth, and contact details.
- Obtain, verify, and document insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Enter and update patient data accurately into the electronic health record (EHR) or registration system.
- Assist patients with completion of registration forms and answer questions regarding registration procedures.
- Explain facility policies and financial responsibilities to patients as appropriate.
- Obtain necessary patient signatures for consent, privacy notices, and financial agreements.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and registration accuracy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
- Handle telephone inquiries related to appointments, insurance, and patient registration.
- Assist with scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments as needed.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with patient registration data to supervisors.
- Support other patient access functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in patient registration, customer service, or healthcare administration strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and registration software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Basic understanding of insurance terminology and billing processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.

This is a Full-Time position 1st Shift, Monday - Friday: 8a - 4:30p.
