Job Skills / Requirements

The Director of Student Activities and Greek Life has autonomous responsibility for programs and services that support co-curricular student learning, social interaction, leadership development, and community inclusivity. They are a member of the Student Life staff team under the direction of the Dean of Students.
 
Essential Job Functions:
Management

  • Administer College policies, procedures, and guidelines that, in particular, apply to campus organizations and event management;  
  • Manage functional areas of student activities, Greek life, new student orientation by providing strategic and operational direction for downline employees and campus partners;

Training/Development

  • Conduct training, as needed, for faculty and staff organization and chapter advisors;
  • Oversee Greek College required member education programming;
  • Coordinate student organization leader training;
 Leadership Development
  • Develop robust Leadership contribute to strategic vision and long-range plan for co-curricular leadership development aligned with college priorities/strategy.
  •  Develop strategies for the assessment of leadership programs/curriculum.
 
Programs/Special Event Coordination

  • Negotiate, review, revise (as necessary) and sign contracts for campus programs;
  •  Develop and provide diverse developmentally focused programs in collaboration with other campus offices and departments;
  • Jointly responsible for creation and implementation of New Student Orientation and International Student Orientation:
  •  Assist with programming and support mechanisms for new students and students in transition.

Supervision


  •  Supervise Assistant Director of Student Activities
  •  Supervise Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life
 Collaboration

  •  Serve as Student Life representative to the College Convocation Committee;
  • Work closely with the Civic and Community Engagement and Residence Life offices to implement diverse programming and events;
  • Collaboratively program with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Center for Career and Professional Development, Office of Religious Life, and other College offices and departments;

Assessment/Evaluation

  •  Assess programming efforts of Greek Life, SAC, Campus Center student staff, and other programs and activities within the office’s responsibilities to insure effective program development;

Event Staffing

  • Attend and monitor student sponsored events as assigned/needed to ensure programmatic success, participant safety, and facility security;
 
Marginal Job Duties:
 
  •  Representation on College committees as assigned;
  •  Meet with College policy violators, as needed, and recommend appropriate sanctions according to violation;
  • Perform special projects with the Student Life Office and other college offices and departments, including but not limited to selection and training of the Residence Life Staff, Leadership training for various campus organizations, cooperative work with fall orientation activities, participation as a team member in all aspects of Student Life;
  •  Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned. 
 
 Entry Requirements:
 
Education 
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field or equivalent experience;
  •  Minimum of one to two years of experience in Student Activities and/or Student Union in a College/University setting preferred,
  •  One year of full-time or two years of part time experience advising Greek-letter organizations in a College/University setting preferred.
  •  Experience in a small, private, liberal arts college setting with a significant fraternity and sorority population preferred.
  •  Experience with facilities management and upkeep preferred.
 
Knowledge and Skills 
  • ·Demonstrates an appreciation of and commitment to further an inclusive culture for those of diverse backgrounds such as ability, age, class, ethnicity, faith background, gender expression, gender identity, geographic region, national origin, neurodiversity, race, and sexual orientation that comprise individual and group expressions of identity. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks;
  •  Willing to work flexible schedule, which will include evening and weekend hours as required to meet with student organizations and to facilitate programs;
  •  Knowledge of NIC and NPC structures and policies;
  • Experience with Interactive Collegiate Solutions (ICS) program and Microsoft computer programs. 
Physical Requirements: 
Limited pushing, pulling, lifting.  Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs. Mobility on campus necessary.
