Overview

Catholic Charities of Louisville is the social-service arm of the Archdiocese of Louisville. We provide help and create hope for the poor and vulnerable through a wide range of programs, assisting clients of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. 

The Bakhita Empowerment Initiative provides direct assistance and case management to survivors of human trafficking, this program also aims to educate the community about human trafficking, as well as how to identify individuals who are being forced or coerced for the purpose of sexual exploitation or labor.

Job Skills / Requirements

PART TIME POSITION: $23.00/HOUR; 18 HOURS/WEEK

This position works as a part-time prevention education coordinator for the Bakhita Empowerment Initiative program in the Western KY region. This position will organize and facilitate the implementation of all education prevention efforts, including My Life My Choice, I AM, and Not a Number groups throughout Kentucky. The assigned Prevention Education Coordinator will work with youth that are at-risk or have been trafficked for either sex or labor. The position will facilitate groups when needed and appropriate, collecting data, and assisting with project evaluation. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS: 
 
1.      Organize prevention education groups in Owensboro and surrounding areas, per grant requirements. 
2.      Gather data from prevention education groups, as needed for project evaluation.
3.      Assist with facilitation of prevention education groups as needed and appropriate.
4.      Assist with quarterly reports and other reporting per the grant requirements.
5.      Participate in professional development as available and appropriate.
6.      Engage in community outreach and awareness efforts to inform the community about prevention education efforts, as appropriate. 
7.      Participate in task force and coalition meetings as appropriate. 
8.      Coordinator efforts with prevention education curricula developers and ensure consistent implementation of curricula. 
9.      Carry out all assignments designated by the Program Director, Bakhita Empowerment Initiative.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 2 years’ experience in victim assistance, social services, or closely related experience preferred.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in an effective manner.
  • Must be people oriented and relate to a varied ethnic population.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods. 
  • Must have good vision and hearing. 
  • Must be able to multi-task and respond quickly to requests for technical assistance.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, handle stressful situations, and have good communication skills to interact successfully with colleagues, clients, volunteers, and service providers.
  • Must be able to set boundaries with youth and staff at facilities providing prevention education.
  • Must be able to drive personal vehicle to various locations throughout Kentucky.
  • The incumbent must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information she/he encounters.
  • Be able to work flexible hours with some work on evenings and weekends.
 

Education Requirements (Any)

BA or BS
BA degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
