We provide help and create hope for the poor and vulnerable through a wide range of programs, assisting clients of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. Our service area includes 24 counties throughout Central Kentucky.

SALARY: $24.00/hour

The Floating Caseworker (FCw) Operates within the Migration and Refugee Services (MRS) Department. The FCw is responsible for working within the various departments comprised in MRS to provide services for refugee and immigrant youth and adults. The FCw provides services including, but not limited to, communicating with each client to identify needs, assisting with referrals and supports, completing regular check-ins with assigned clients, facilitating communication to ensure clients are connected with community resources, assisting families with school registrations and educational support, and submitting case notes in a timely manner.

Essential Tasks and Duties: 
  1. Complete intake forms and gather necessary documentation including initial assessments to determine the needs, strengths, and challenges of clients.
  2. Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure clients are receiving the necessary services including referrals inside the agency and in the community.
  3. Create and maintain partnerships with other service providers and community organizations to coordinate client services including financial assistance, housing, healthcare, and counseling.
  4. Advocate for clients' needs within the community and with service providers.
  5. Maintain accurate and confidential case files and documentation, and prepare reports on client progress, program outcomes, and service effectiveness
  6. Educate clients about their rights, available resources, and how to utilize them effectively.
  7. Engage in outreach activities to build awareness of the organization’s services.
  8. Contribute to the development and improvement of programs and services based on client feedback and needs assessments.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the director.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work is performed part-time in an office setting with moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people moving about and part-time in client homes providing 1:1 case management. Work at education events within the community will also be routine throughout the year.

EFFORT:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time 
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distant vision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure, effectively utilize time and resources, and use sound judgment when making decisions 
  • Ability to travel frequently within the community utilizing personal transportation (mileage will be compensated when using personal vehicle)
  • Ability to accurately examine and analyze information
  • Significant ability to multi-task and respond to deadlines
  • Ability and flexibility in working flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT:
telephone, computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, scanner, and shredder

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  
  • Minimum Associate’s degree is required
  • Degree in Education, Social Work, Healthcare, or related field is preferred 
  • One year of relevant work experience preferred
  • Fluency in  Spanish, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Dari and/or Pashto is preferred 
  • Cultural competency and an intimate knowledge of relevant refugee and immigrant communities in Louisville preferred

Minimum Associate’s degree is required,Degree in Education, Social Work, Healthcare, or related field is preferred
