Job Skills / Requirements
The School Guard Booth Security Officer represents both the security company and the school while on duty. Officers must maintain a professional appearance, exercise sound judgment, protect confidential information, and consistently prioritize the safety and security of the school community
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Monitor the school entrance, guard booth, and designated access points.
- Control and monitor authorized vehicle and pedestrian entry.
- Verify visitors, staff, vendors, and contractors as required by school procedures.
- Maintain accurate visitor and access logs.
- Monitor security alarms, gates, and systems when assigned.
- Maintain a visible security presence and remain alert throughout the shift.
- Immediately notify school administration, supervisors, or emergency services when appropriate.
- Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas.
- Assist with traffic and access control during student arrival, dismissal, and special events.
- Follow all school emergency procedures and company post orders.
- Complete required reports, incident documentation, and activity logs accurately and timely.
- Maintain professional communication with students, parents, school staff, visitors, and contractors.
- Remain at the assigned post unless properly relieved or authorized to leave.

Officers are expected to:
- Report to work on time and in complete, clean, and professional uniform.
- Remain alert and attentive while on duty.
- Maintain professional conduct and communication at all times.
- Follow all company policies, school policies, and post orders.
- Refrain from unauthorized use of cell phones or other distractions while on duty.
- Maintain accurate and timely security documentation.
Qualifications:
- Ability to pass required background and employment screening.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
- Ability to observe, document, and report security-related activity.
- Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
- Work in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to multitask.
- Previous school, security, military, law enforcement, or customer-service experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods when required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while maintaining alertness.
- Ability to respond quickly to security or emergency situations.
- Ability to perform routine patrols and security checks.
- Ability to lift or move items within the requirements of the assigned post.
