Take secure custody of and detain federal prison inmates receiving medical treatment at Tallahassee, Florida area hospitals. Utilize restraints per FBOP guidelines. Maintain alertness and physical control of inmate at all times. Maintain a professional demeanor and wear proper uniform at all times. Compose activity and incident reports for each shift worked. Screen and search visitors. Perform other duties as specified in post orders.
Candidates already cleared by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to work Federal inmates are preferred.
Requirements:
Work flexible shifts and on-call.
Have access to reliable transportation.
Pass background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications.
Pass Federal Bureau of Prisons background check.
Provide military discharge document with discharge status indicated, if applicable.
Demonstrate the ability to interact professionally with the public.
Read, speak and understand the English language fluently.
Prepare detailed written reports and fill out forms.
Physical Requirements:
- Amputations, deformities, or disabilities which prevent satisfactory performance of guard duties are disqualified.
- Applicants must have vision correctable to 20/30 (Snellen) in the better eye and must be able to read typewritten material with or without glasses. The ability to distinguish basic colors is required.
-The ability to hear conversational voice without the use of a hearing device is required.
-The history or presence of a significant psychiatric disorder is disqualifying. The service to be performed requires the use of tact in dealing with prisoners and visitors of prisoners, a keen sense of perception, mental alertness and the ability to resolve crisis situations through verbal communications.
- All prospective employees must be tested for use of illegal drugs. No applicant will be hired unless he or she has received a negative drug test conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Additional Information / Benefits
Health and Welfare Pay: $4.22/Hour (Incl. in hourly rate).

This is a Part-Time position 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift, Weekends.
