Job Skills / Requirements
KR Contracting Inc. (KRC) is seeking qualified Protective Services Officers (PSOs) to support high-profile security operations at Department of Justice (DOJ) facilities. PSOs are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, visitors, property, and assets across assigned DOJ sites.
PSOs conduct proactive patrols, monitor building systems (including access control, fire detection, CCTV, and visitor management), and respond to emergencies. They also manage facility access by screening and processing visitors and vehicles, enforcing rules and regulations, and assisting with incident response and reporting.
This is a critical public-facing role suited for individuals with Law enforcement experience and a commitment to upholding safety and integrity in high-stakes environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all post orders, site protocols, and legal requirements.
- Conduct patrols and monitor all entrances, exits, and sensitive areas.
- Operate and monitor security systems (CCTV, fire alarms, access control, etc.).
- Screen and process visitors and vehicles in accordance with DOJ policies.
- Enforce building rules and regulations; maintain a visible, professional security presence.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies; report any suspicious or criminal activity.
- Document visitor logs, incident reports, and routine security documentation.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and exercise sound judgment in non-emergency and emergency situations.
- Operate assigned equipment including batons, OC spray, radios, X-ray scanners, magnetometers, and, if applicable, firearms.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements, Certifications, Experience & Training
- U.S. citizenship
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduated from a certified federal, state, local, or military law enforcement training academy (proof of certification required) or graduated from a Federal or State corrections academy, (exclusive of the District of Columbia, (DC), which included firearms training and qualification to carry firearms
- Minimum of 18 months of law enforcement or Federal or State corrections experience (see above)
Background & Screening:
- Must successfully pass background, credit, and reference checks (10-year scope)
- Must meet physical fitness and medical screening standards as required
- Must pass drug screening and government-mandated background investigation

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain on post up to 4 consecutive hours without food, water, or restroom breaks
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per shift, indoors and outdoors
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to lift, carry, and operate security equipment
- Exposure to inclement weather, emergencies, and high-stress situations
- Must maintain clear vision, hearing, and communication abilities at all times
