Job Skills / Requirements
KR Contracting, Inc. is seeking professional, reliable, and skilled Dispatchers to support mission-critical Control Center operations for the Department of Justice (DOJ). This role is essential to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of communications and security-related dispatch at DOJ facilities. Dispatchers will operate alarm monitoring systems, CCTV, radio, systems and telephones, and must be capable of managing emergency and routine situations with poise and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor alarm consoles, CCTV systems, and radio and telephone systems in Control Centers.
- Receive, assess, and dispatch security response personnel to incidents within the required timeframes.
- Maintain communication logs and ensure accurate and timely documentation of all events.
- Follow detailed DOJ protocol in response to various alarms and emergency conditions (e.g., medical, fire, duress, intrusion, supervisory).
- Provide clear, concise, and professional communication at all times with staff, emergency responders, and DOJ personnel.
- Comply with established procedures for reporting arrests, misconduct, or security concerns.
- Uphold all DOJ confidentiality standards.
- Immediately report any access card loss and return it within three (3) business days upon reassignment or termination.
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen, age 18 or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent in English – reading, writing, and speaking.
- No criminal record; must immediately report any arrest or allegation of misconduct.
Required Training & Certifications
- Minimum 40-hour NENA (or equivalent) dispatcher training.
- Minimum 24 hours of specialized training in:
- Control Center/Dispatch/IDS/PACS
- Interpersonal and emergency communication procedures
- Alarm monitoring, hold-up and duress protocol
- AEGIS photo procedures, fire detection, and shelter-in-place response
- Prior experience in dispatch, CCTV, and control center operations strongly preferred
Behavioral & Performance Expectations
- Maintain professional conduct: no sleeping, unnecessary delays, or personal business while on duty.
- Follow all DOJ standards for appearance, grooming, uniform, and decorum.
- Remain courteous, tactful, and non-confrontational with staff, visitors, and the public.
- Abstain from disclosing sensitive information or posting job-related content on social media.
- Take breaks only in authorized areas; refrain from eating or smoking at the post.
- Avoid unprofessional behavior, including offensive language or disruptive conduct.
Appearance & Uniform Standards
- Must adhere to DOJ grooming standards, including conservative dress, limited jewelry, and clean-shaven or well-groomed facial hair.
- Will wear professional attire or approved vendor uniform (design submitted for COR approval).
- DOJ-issued access cards must be visible at all times inside DOJ buildings and secured when off duty.
