Job Skills / Requirements
Responsibilities
- Protect personnel and property professionally
- Interact courteously with the public and visitors
- Screen and process visitors efficiently
- Identify, report, and respond to rule violations (including detention if necessary)
- Conduct internal and external foot patrols
- Perform traffic control duties
- Operate x-ray equipment with high accuracy
- Respond to alarms and emergency situations
- Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
- Maintain control of keys and lock systems
- Communicate via radio or company-issued phone
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and post orders
- Observe, report, and document incidents
- Provide first aid/CPR as needed
- Wear required protective gear, including body armor
- Maintain required training, fitness, and weapons qualifications
- Follow safety protocols and support improvement programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular, in-person attendance
Qualifications
- Be a United States citizen;
- Been issued a Social Security Card
- Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience; or
- A minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces Component.
- Education
- Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or;
- Received a General Equivalency Diploma or
- A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or
- Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer's standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment of commission
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English. Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test.
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Have a current Maryland Guard Card.
- Have a current Maryland Handgun Permit.
Training Requirements
- 36-Hour FPS Basic/Refresher Training
- 32-Hour FPS Initial Weapons Training
- 16-Hour NWDTP Initial X-Ray Screening Training
- 8-Hour FPS Orientation Briefing
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
