Corporate Controller (Finance and Accounting)

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
The Corporate Controller is a vital part of BTI Security’s back-office team. Organizationally, this role impacts and manages all financial and accounting aspects of the company. Specifically in this role, the Corporate Controller will establish departmental budgets, develop financial management practices, establish and confirm corporate invoicing deliverables to customers and partner with our third-party vendor(s) for additional fiscal practices, amongst other key responsibilities. 

Job Skills / Requirements

The Corporate Controller will support the organization as follows;
  •         Maintain internal controls for all financial areas, (revenue receipts, costs, and department(s)/contracts).
  •         Establish organizational budgets and protocols around expenditures.
  •         Establish and enforce financial and operational benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  •         Develop and Implement accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all departments and/or contracts.
  •         Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets and financial data. 
  •         Oversee and support accounting, Accounts Payable, team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  •         Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will be able to:
  •          Quickly and deliberately make sound financial decisions in the interests of the organization. 
  •        Be able to develop practical and enforceable fiscal restraint management. 
  •         Strong ability to understand complex billing and reconciliation processes and relay messaging therein clearly and effectively. 
  •         Critical thinking skills.
  •         Proactive analysis; without urging be prepared to deep-dive into BTI’s financial practices and provide guidance where appropriate. 
  •         Must be an effective and honest communicator and be able to discern appropriate audience(s). 
  •         Be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  •       Ability to quickly adapt and learn appropriate software.
  • o   WinTeam and QuickBooks proficiency strongly desired. 
  •         Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar field with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in these fields with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. (Demonstrated experience and progress will be considered as strongly as a degree). 
  •         At least five (5) years supporting finance and accounting for government contractor(s). 
  •         Extensive experience in corporate finance, auditing, and budget management. 
  •         Financial Planning and Analysis or FP&A Certification or the like, strongly desired.

Clearance Requirement: There is no clearance required for this position.

Supervision: This position is a management role that will have direct reports (Payroll Specialist). This role will act as an individual contributor with strict reporting responsibility to the CEO/President of the organization unless otherwise determined. This role is expected to be able to exercise sound judgment regularly with or without consultation, in the company’s best interest. 

Travel Expectations: The position is based at the corporate headquarters location. Travel will likely remain under > 5%. 

Working Conditions: The location of this position is a typical office location with computers, fax machines and other general office equipment and furniture. The position is largely sedentary with expected walking throughout the office and ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. Telework or hybrid working conditions are not automatic to this role and will require consultation with the CEO/President of the organization to deviate from the reporting schedule.
