The Staff Accountant will be responsible for working closely with the Finance and Accounting team to support the firm’s financial and accounting activities, including financial reporting, monthly close, accounts receivable and accounts payable management, payroll, and other projects as defined.

Job Skills / Requirements


  • Oversee monthly billing and follow-up on outstanding balances; ensure that all invoices are prepared for the month by appropriate biller
  • Reimburse employee expenses via payroll ensuring compliance with policy; track expenses entered and maintain records and receipts accurately
  • Manage monthly close of general ledger
  • Manage daily accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities
  • Prepare weekly cash forecast; collect information on anticipated cash receipts and disbursements; prepare schedule for the Controller
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget; create periodic forecasts and update as needed
  • Provide bank with periodic financial statements and other information as requested for line of credit
  • Monitor financial activities and details such as reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
  • Maintain current knowledge of firm policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standard
  • Complete firm reporting and statistics as needed (e.g. surveys)
  • Monitor collections and account receivable, prepare reports as assigned
  • Assist in other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in government contracting
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Team player with a positive ‘can do’ approach
  • Creative problem-solving ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills: various accounting software (Deltek, QuickBooks, Office 365)
