Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) - Various locations within
Prince George's County, MD, United States of America
Job Skills / Requirements
- Protect the principal against possible threats
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
- Using provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, in a clear and concise manner
- Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed
- Coordinates with law enforcement as necessary
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Be a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
- Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual name and social security number
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
- Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers
Physical Demands:
- PSOs shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors
- Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisis
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
