This position is based on industrial epoxy floor coatings but will require basic commercial / industrial painting knowledge as well.
Ability to operate floor grinding equipment. Knowledge of various floor coatings (epoxy and Urethanes) Apply paint to various surfaces, including: walls, floors, doors, and rails. You will be asked to scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting. Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection. You may also be asked to fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, or other fillers. You will utilize high lifts or ladders when it’s needed. Follow all safety requirements and standards at all times
Job Description
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Responsible for performing tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor.
- Able to complete tasks from start to finish and manage other team members
- Estimating knowledge is a plus.
- Delegate work to other team members to complete projects in safe timely manner and under budget.
- Apply paint to multiple substrates and surfaces.
- Responsible for ensuring work area is kept clean and safe.
- Must be able to understand the proper use of paints and solvents to work in an efficient yet effective manner.
- Must be able to work as a team player with other employees throughout LACOSTA.
- Must understand and utilize proper personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to be flexible with varying job assignments and working conditions.
- Responsible for following plant rules as it pertains to each job site.
- May require some travel.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus. If not currently certified will need to be willing to get certification at LACOSTA expense.
Requirements:
- Painting / Prepping experience (Required)
- Knowledge of Epoxy Floor Coatings and Prepping methods Required
- Must be energetic, pleasant & professional
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of customer service
- Recognize and understand safety signs and building warning systems. Understand safety requirements, understand & meet company handbook expectations.
- Ability to change tasks or assignments outside normal duties.
- Must be comfortable wearing PPE (Hard hat, steel toed shoes, vest, etc.)
- Must be willing to think on your feet and learn as you go.
- Preferred Experience: Commercial / Industrial painting, epoxy coating
Work Schedule
- 1st shift 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
- Monday - Friday
- Overtime eligibility
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to normal weather conditions for the area. While performing the duties of this job, may be working around semi-trucks and trailers, dumpsters, and vans. This may include construction areas and the hazards associated with such. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing Protection not required but may be required in some areas. Must comply with all PPE requirements
