Scott County is located in the northern portion of the bluegrass region and its largest city is Georgetown. On January 1, 2019, Scott County elected a new Judge Executive, Joe Pat Covington. With nearly 250 full-time employees, the county government offers services through a variety of important departments including; fire, sheriff, emergency medical services, emergency management, detention center, roads, animal care and control, county attorney, county clerk, coroner, electrical inspection and administrative services. Job Skills / Requirements

Individual needed to provide a safe and secure environment for the care and custody of all inmates remanded to the detention center. Duties include enforcing all rules and regulations as well as policies and procedures of the facility; assuring the smooth operation of the facility by identifying problems, solutions and the implementation of corrective actions; performing all intake and release procedures; conducting regular cell searches on all inmate living areas, to verify that the facility remains free of contraband, weapons, trash, etc.

Position requires graduation from high school or possession of a GED and some work experience. Individuals must also be 21 years of age, a US citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and be eligible to possess a firearm. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience working for a detention center in law enforcement and vocational and/or college training/education in security, law enforcement or a related field. Qualified candidates with military service should be prepared to provide a copy of their DD214.
