Descripción del trabajo

Individual needed to represent Scott County in legal proceedings, including prosecuting cases in District and Family Court, preparing legal documents for the County, and advising local law enforcement and County agencies.  Duties include the following: prosecutes traffic and criminal cases in Scott District Court; represents the Commonwealth in all juvenile court matters; responsible for hearings and jury trials in Scott District Court;  represents the child support division of the Scott County Attorney’s office for all child support matters as needed; prepares paperwork for all assigned cases as necessary; designs a plan for case presentation; evaluates evidence obtained by police agencies and others; interviews potential witnesses for Family Court proceedings; interviews law enforcement and private victims in criminal and traffic matters; researches legal issues that arise at trial, during case preparation or at the request of individuals; researches precedents to assist recommendation of sentencing.

 

The position requires a Juris Doctor degree in Law and at least one year of related experience.  Individual must also be licensed or admitted to practice law in Kentucky.  Must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as sound organizational and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret laws, regulations, ordinances, and legal documents.  Candidates are also expected to possess proven computer skills and proficiency with use of the Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
