Job Skills / Requirements

We are looking for a self-starter to effectively and efficiently operate, maintain and either repair or assist the the Resident Manager and Property Managers in coordinating the repair of all base-building infrastructure and infrastructure support systems and related equipment without limitation.

This is a 32BJ union position.

Pay is $31.55 per hour.

Schedule : Sundays -Thursdays  3:30 PM - 11:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities:

    - Performing routine inspections and repairs of plumbing, heating and electrical systems

    - Responding to tenant requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner

    - Installing, assembling and fixing appliances, furniture and fixtures

    - Painting, patching and caulking walls, ceilings and floors

    - Cleaning and maintaining common areas, tools and equipment

    - Following building codes, safety regulations and quality standards

    - Reporting any major issues or damages to the supervisor or manager

    - Ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and materials

    - Coordinating with external contractors or vendors when needed

    - Assisting with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager

    Requirements:

    ·         - At least two years of experience as a handyman or in a similar role
    ·         - Working knowledge of plumbing, heating and electrical systems and tools
    ·         - Ability to perform basic carpentry, painting and masonry tasks
    ·         - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals and instructions
    ·         - Ability to work independently or as part of a team
    ·         - Ability to lift and move heavy objects
    ·         - Good communication and interpersonal skills
    ·         - Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    ·         - High school diploma or equivalent
    ·         - The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings

Experience:  Minimum of one year of building operations and maintenance.
Required: S-12, S-13, S-95
Working Environment (Approximate): Indoors - 80 % and Outdoors - 20 %
