We are looking for a self-starter to effectively and efficiently operate, maintain and either repair or assist the Engineering Management Staff and Property Managers in coordinating the repair of all base-building infrastructure and infrastructure support systems and related equipment without limitation.

This is a Local 94 union position.

Pay is $40.00 - $46.00  per hour. Depending on experience




Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Respond to and resolve maintenance requests and issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and record readings from meters, gauges, and other instruments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineer and other team members.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide support during emergency situations and participate in emergency response activities.
  • Monitors all infrastructure systems, reports on existing problems or potential problems and formulates solutions or assists in the formulation of solutions for these problems in conjunction with the Lead Engineer/Chief Route Engineer.
  • Aids the Lead Engineer/Chief Engineer/Chief Route Engineer in maintaining the proper inventory of essential spare parts and maintenance material for maintenance and repair of common areas and infrastructure systems.

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to visually inspect machinery and building.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice and/or implementation.
  • Ability to detect emergency alarms and alarm conditions – by auditory, visual and olfactory senses
  • Ability to inspect equipment located on roofs or other high places.
  • Ability to climb to roof of the building using stairways during conditions of power loss and during other emergencies.
  • Ability to work on hands and knees for inspection, repair or maintenance of equipment located low to the roof, floor slabs or ground.
  • Ability to work weekends and extended hours.
  • Ability to climb ladders to conduct inspections, maintenance and repairs, and follow OSHA ladder safety guidelines when using.
  • Ability to move heavy objects with the aid of appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to carry heavy objects, such as five (5) gallon pails up several flights of stairs.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand equipment instruction manuals.
  • Ability to write reports using all parts of speech with reasonably proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to perform simple computation using basic arithmetic (i.e.: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  • Ability to properly interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule format.
  • Ability to identify and resolve mechanical and basic electrical problems.
  • Ability to understand basic building infrastructure system design and operation (i.e.: Class E, domestic water, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire and life-safety systems.
  • Ability to use proper organizational skills and compile appropriate information to plan and complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to learn to read and understand design drawings and specifications.
Experience:  Minimum of one year of building operations and maintenance.
Required: S-12, S-13, Q-01 or Q-99, A-35, P-99 
Working Environment (Approximate): Indoors - 80 % and Outdoors - 20 %
