Job Skills / Requirements
Applicant must meet one of the following instructor education requirements: (A) Has earned fifty-one (51) semester credit hours at a postsecondary educational institution and nine (9) credit hours of driver education training that included theoretical and behind-the-wheel training consistent with nationally accepted standards in traffic safety and was a part of a curriculum approved by the commission for higher education. OR (B) Has completed a bureau approved instructor training program and completed twenty (20) hours of behind-the wheel training instruction that meet the standards set forth by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles of Indiana. Applicant must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States, at least twenty-one (21) years of age and have held a valid driver's license for at least one (1) year, with a clean national background and driver’s record check. Instructor is responsible for conducting driver evaluations, driver training and evaluating participant’s ability to drive safely and independently. Instructor will earn between $20-22 per hour (pay rate determined by experience) when providing instruction and $10 per hour for travel time. Flexible weekday, weekend and/or evening hours are required. Driver’s training vehicle is provided by Blue River Services, Inc.
