Job Skills / Requirements

ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT AND VALID MICHIGAN CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE (Or be certified under LEOSA) AND HAVE PRIOR ARMED EXPERIENCE IN EITHER SECURITY, MILITARY, OR LAW ENFORCEMENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ARMED SECURITY WORK!

SCOPE:  Armed Security Officers at this site are responsible for protecting the building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires and natural disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service. 

SCHEDULE:

  • All Shifts, Sat-Sun. (Other days based on availability).
  • Part-Time (16-36 hours per week based on availability).

COMPENSATION: 

  • Rate of Pay: $19.00/hour

LOCATION: Lansing, MI

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must provide excellent customer service when dealing with Clients, Customers, Co-Workers, etc.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at assigned client location.
  • Guard posts – this may include building lobbies, reception areas, control centers, etc.
  • Conduct periodic foot patrols of the assigned locations.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, and will enforce policies and procedures for the site location.
  • Check for employee and vendor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities.
  • Responds to emergencies.
  • Maintain regular communication with the designated client contact, follow through with client requests and keep operations manager updated as to client communication.
  • Must follow and enforce site specific post guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old or older.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License.
  • May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Must pass a 5-panel drug screen upon hire and periodically thereafter.
  • Preferred Experience: law enforcement, military, criminal justice field, and customer service.
  • Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to Clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the general public.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. These include the ability to read and write the English languages.
  • Must possess computer skills; specifically, in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift, navigate stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
