SCOPE: The Lead Officer will provide support for one particular client, focusing on temporary security details in several locations around the state of Michigan. This position is responsible for the supervision and leadership of assigned officers within the designated region. This site location requires security services primarily during 2nd and 3rd shifts during the week, all 3 shifts on the weekends; including holidays. The Lead Officer will work closely with the Regional Account Supervisor and will provide leadership with managing employees, scheduling, meeting client needs, and all other duties as it relates to the needs of the account. The Lead Officer is responsible for contributing to the overall goals and direction of our clients and the company as a whole.

 

SCHEDULE:

  • 2nd / 3rd Shift
  • 30-39+ hours per week
 

COMPENSATION: 

  • Rate of Pay: $18.09/hour
  • Benefits: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, group accident, short term disability, identity theft protection, and Paid Medical Leave.
  • Mileage Reimbursement: $0.445/mile for any travel which requires you to drive more than 100 miles in a roundtrip. (Example: round trip is 150 miles, you’ll be reimbursed for 50 miles).
 

LOCATION: Northeast, MI (Flint, Saginaw, Bay City and the surrounding cities)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Billable:  Work 24-32+ hours per week in a billable, uniform capacity.  The vast majority of the position is operational, requiring the Lead Officer to maintain a personal presence throughout the region.
  • Travel: The position will involve a great amount of travel in a personal vehicle.  Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.445/mile after the initial 50 miles of the trip (one-way).
  • Supervision: Direct, supervise, and manage subordinates in the execution of appropriate strategies, consistent with law, Client and Company policy, and accepted security standards that maintain a safe, secure and orderly decorum in support of the stated organizational mission.
  • Site Training:  Oversee the training of all assigned officers and ensure they are appropriately and thoroughly carrying out all duties outlined in the site’s post guidelines.
  • Officer Grooming:  Ensure the appearance, grooming and physical image of all uniform security employees and event staff employees assigned to site are impeccable at all times.
  • Client Communication:  Maintain regular communication with the designated client contact, follow through with client requests and keep operations manager updated as to client communication. 
  • Scheduling:  Assist the Account Supervisor with last minute scheduling. 
  • Customer Service: Understand and require the performance of DK’s customer service GIFTS program with all assigned officers.
  • Site Equipment and Uniforms:  Maintain an inventory of and report problems associated with DK and client owned equipment and uniforms.
  • On-Call:  Be available at all times to receive calls from subordinates with site questions while the officers are on duty and handle unexpected scheduling issues (sick employees). 
  • The daily duties of this position are determined by the client and may vary depending upon the needs of the site / client contact. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be of good moral character, with no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for criminal sexual conduct or related offenses, theft, assault, or crimes of moral turpitude, is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter; which will test for the use of legal and illegal drugs, including marijuana.
  • Must have a working cell phone and ability to make hourly wellness calls.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to multiple locations.
  • Must have a clean driving history, including but not limited to: 
    • Less than 3 moving violations in the previous 3 years.
    • Less than 2 at-fault accidents in the previous 3 years.
    • No major traffic/driving violations in the previous 3 years.
  • At least 2 years of experience in law enforcement, military, or security is preferred.
  • Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the general public. Experience in customer service is required.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. These include the ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions and reports.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. All scheduling and major employee communications will be communicated via email.
  • Must have impeccable grooming, while meeting the standards of our Appearance and Grooming policy.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
  • Physical Requirements: 
    • Must be physically and mentally sound
    • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
    • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, and to hold objects
    • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for 8-12 hour shifts, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs
    • Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations
    • Must be able to work in or outdoors during all seasons
    • Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
    • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Note: Internal Candidates with an active disciplinary action in his/her personnel file will NOT be considered for this position.
