Job Skills / Requirements

 This position is suited for a flexible person with armed security experience who is willing to help secure and protect visitors, grounds, and staff in an armed capacity. This is a role at correctional training facility.
 
SCHEDULE:
  • 3rd Shift ACA Full Time (30-39 hours per week)
COMPENSATION: 
  • Rate of Pay: $20.00/hour.

LOCATION: Whitmore lake, MI

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an Armed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary depending on the site you are working. This opening will utilize your own vehicle on a construction site as a mobile post. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Access Control - Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site.
  • Foot Patrol - Walk the interior and exterior of the various buildings on site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
  • Mobile Patrol - Patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors and remote locations in a security vehicle.
  • Must provide excellent customer service when dealing with Visitors, Staff, Executives, Co-Workers, etc.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
  • Guard posts – this may include building lobbies, gates, reception areas, control centers, etc.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, and will enforce policies and procedures for the site location.
  • Check for employee and vendor identifications.
  • Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through with client requests, and keep operations managers updated on client communications.
  • Must follow and enforce site specific post guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old or older.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a current, valid Concealed Pistol License or be LEOSA certified.
  • May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Must pass a 5-panel drug screen upon hire and periodically thereafter.
  • Military experience or prior law enforcement experience is highly preferred for this position.
  • Must present a friendly, positive, professional image to clients, employees, supervisors, managers, and the general public.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. These include the ability to fluently speak, understand, read, and legibly write in the English language.
  • Must possess computer skills; specifically, in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to stand or walk for the duration of the shift, navigate stairs, and lift up to 70 lbs
Benefits
Part-Time Benefit Package (Not available to part-time on-call or temporary employees.)
Must be employed at least 1 year while maintaining an average of 20+ hours per week at the time of the eligibility check to become eligible for any benefits:
  • Paid Medical Leave: Must work an average of 25 hours per week to be eligible for this benefit. Accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 35 hours worked. Max annual accrual 40 hours. Max annual carryover 40 hours. Max annual usage 40 hours.

  • Benefits are offered once every November to those eligible. Employees can become ineligible if their availability for work changes and they are unable to be scheduled for the quantity of hours needed to meet eligibility requirements.
