Job Skills / Requirements

As part of the operations team the bilingual (Spanish/English) Janitorial Lead reports to an assigned Operations Manager. In this role the janitorial lead will conduct quality control checks at different locations to ensure all Horizon Services policies and procedures are complied with. The janitorial lead will review cleaning quality and safety by performing on site inspections and by providing training for the on site janitors. They will represent Horizon Services core values at all times. They will keep an open line of documented communication with their assigned accounts and Operations Manager. hey will have an open mind to try new things and are willing to accept new ways of doing things.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following key accountabilities are critical to the success of this position:

Drive quality by leading the day to day operations for assigned accounts.

  • Doing so by consistently providing training, coaching, and recognition. When necessary partnering with the Operations manager to suggest disciplinary action in order to correct behaviors and drive improvement. Conduct quality inspections in assigned accounts. Providing written documentation of those findings and actions taken to correct deficiencies. Professionally resolve customer complaints with documentation and urgency.

Train and fill in for all accounts when required.

  • Train workforce and perform special projects work such as: Strip and recoat; carpet extraction; window cleaning; and disinfection services. Look for opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs on assigned accounts.

Perform other assigned duties .

  • Participate in all relevant training to achieve industry certifications.

Customer Service

  • Train and fill in for any account
  • Special projects work ( floor refinishing, extraction, substitute work)
  • Work specialized cleaning positions in emergency

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School with at least two years of college. (Education requirements may be waived in lieu of additional professional experience.)
  • Five or more years related experience in a service-related organization with two or more years of janitorial lead responsibilities.

Abilities:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • The ability to read, understand and communicate safety rules, regulations, procedures, inspection lists, charts, chemical compounds and work directions.
  • The ability to work safely in accordance with company and job site safety procedures.
  • The ability to provide work direction to others both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings to meet the demands of the position.
  • The ability to learn and understand the job functions of each technician and custodial cleaning techniques.
  • The ability to understand use and operations of cleaning equipment, materials and methods used in everyday operation of custodial services.
  • The ability to learn and understand the physical plan of the client’s facility and all contractual cleaning requirements.

Other Requirements:

  • Safe driving record/Valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance required.
  • The incumbent/employee must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test with periodic retesting requirements during the course of his or her employment

  • Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
  • Required to drive during day and/or evening hours, which requires excellent hand-to-eye coordination and quick reactions for demands of traffic conditions while driving.
