Job Skills / Requirements

Position Summary:

The Dispatcher works closely with Scheduling and Field Supervision to ensure that there is coverage for all posts and that all Officers are on duty at their indicated times.  The Dispatcher also takes incoming calls  and ensures that information is distributed to the appropriate departments/employees

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming phone calls from Officers who are reporting on and off duty.
  • Communicate effectively with the Scheduling Manager and/or the Dispatcher you are relieving for any updates/pass downs.
  • Effectively schedule personnel to fill vacancies created by Officers calling to report they are sick or unable to report to work on their scheduled times.
  • Effectively communicate with field Supervisors via telephone or radio to advise them of any variences in the schedule due to a call off or someone being late.
  • Identify and monitor all "cold starts" sites and ensure that Officers are on duty at the indicated times.
  • Dispatch Officers to fill vacancies untilizing the Compay network, ensuring the Officer is qualified and trained at that respective site.
  • Keep accurate logs of activities during shifts.
  • Answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls from employees, clients and supervisors and dispatch appropriate personnel including but not limited to law enforcement, fire or EMS.
  • Ensure critical information coming from clients or management is distributed to field supervision.
Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple calls/issues at the same time and remain calm and focused.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and operate objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 15 pounds.
