Competencias Laborales / Requisitos

The Alarm Technician Apprentice’s primary responsibility is to install and/or assist under the direction of a senior technician and/or upper-level technician when installing various systems such as burglary, fire, CCTV, and access control. The Alarm Technician Apprentice must have the ability to legally operate a company vehicle as they will be responsible for conducting their job duties for multiple clients and responding to other calls for service during a given shift. The Alarm Technician Apprentice must deliver service according to our key areas of success and that is in alignment with our four Operating Standards: Safety, Quality, Image, and Efficiency.

This position is non-exempt and will work a standard 8 hour work day with a start time as early as 5:00 AM depending on workload, business needs, and season. This position will typically work Monday through Friday however weekends may be requested on an as needed basis.

OBJECTIVES

  • Pull wire/cable for various installations as an assistant to upper-level installers.
  • Assist upper-level installers with installations for burglar, fire, CCTV, and access control systems as required.
  • Prepare installation equipment.
  • Process documentation as required.
  • Establish positive contact with customers.
  • Install wireless alarm systems independently.
  • Attend and complete training, including online and on-site courses.
  • Work towards proficiency in all job areas as directed.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to demonstrate our 4 company values:  Honest, Accountable, Cooperate, Evolve.
  • Must hold a Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (“BSIS”) Alarm Company Employee License or be eligible to obtain an Alarm Company Employee License.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in working with electrical tools and meters.
  • Demonstrate proficiency working with hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret shop drawings.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold conditions, indoor and outdoor.
  • Ability to work in attics and/or crawl spaces.
  • Must hold a valid California Driver’s License, have a decently clean Motor Vehicle Record, and be insurable with company insurance carrier.
  • Ability to display strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally to customers communications and requests.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of mechanical/electrical experience preferred.

  • Frequently move or transport items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Constantly have near and far visual acuity, and the ability to discern colors, and judge distances/spatial relationships.
  • Occasionally employ the senses of touch and smell.
  • Frequently operate a motor vehicle in a safe and sensible manner.
  • The position cited above may work in an indoor and/or outdoor environment; exposure to controlled temperatures or  inclement weather such as extreme heat/cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. may occur.
  • The noise level for the position(s) cited above may range from quiet to loud.

We suggest the following terms for describing the amount of time a task takes: “Seldomly” is only a few times a day for a short duration, or not daily; “Occasionally” is up to one-third of the day; “Frequently” is up to two-thirds of the day; and “Constantly” is over two-thirds of the day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Scale: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

An employee's actual rate of pay for this position is reliant upon various factors such as the geographic location of the worksite, the type of industry/clientele being serviced and the employee's longevity with the company.
