This person will perform activities related to administration and management of employee benefit programs; serves as the subject matter expert for multiple programs; provides recommendations and advice to Executives; coordinates development of communications to inform and educate on benefit plan provisions; participates in procurement and contracting processes, to include monitoring the performance of third-party vendors and leading implementation efforts as assigned. Seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our growing HR Department. This person will perform activities related to administration and management of employee benefit programs; serves as the subject matter expert for multiple programs; provides recommendations and advice to Executives; coordinates development of communications to inform and educate on benefit plan provisions; participates in procurement and contracting processes, to include monitoring the performance of third-party vendors and leading implementation efforts as assigned. Job Responsibilities:
- Administer new employee benefit enrollments and changes.
- Administer 401(k) plan – post semi and bi - weekly payroll uploads, update deferral changes, process loans and hardship requests.
- Manage benefits enrollment and changes, partner with payroll department and vendors to ensure accurate billing and employee contributions.
- Manage time off programs including FMLA and Workers Compensation program, coordinate ADA accommodation requests as needed.
- Communicate enrollments, changes, and terminations to benefit vendors.
- Maintain employee benefits administration system and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
- Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs.
- Resolve administrative problems with the vendor representatives.
- Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs.
- Ensure distribution of required employee notices.
- Assist Benefits Analyst in completing benefits reporting requirements.
- Coordinate COBRA and ensure appropriate correspondence is sent to terminated employees.
- Reconcile invoices for all company and union sponsored benefits plans.
- Create and disseminate censes and reports.
- Process life insurance claims.
- Provides information requested during any audits which involve any company benefits.
- Oversee tuition reimbursement and professional enrichment programs.
- Monitor benefit tracking system.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Escalate benefit issues to appropriate departments.
- Respond to employee inquiries, employee benefit questions, and employment verifications in a timely matter.
- Review weekly benefit file feeds for accuracy.
- Review COBRA reports, weekly file feeds, etc. to ensure accuracy of COBRA administration.
- Process employee qualifying life events.
- Eagerness to assist with other HR duties outside of benefits and ability to work well in an environment that values teamwork.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organization and project management skills; attention to detail; ability to problem solve.
- Proven track record of providing responsive, timely customer support.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.

- Enthusiastic and engaged personality.
- Ability to remain confidential and handle sensitive data.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 2-4 years of benefit related experience.
Education:
- 2 years related experience, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
