Competencias Laborales / Requisitos

Hourly $17.75 + $4.57 Health and Welfare Benefits

COGAR Unarmed Contract Security Guards are responsible for conducting mobile and foot security patrols, access control, personnel escort duties, observation, and reporting. Unarmed Security Guards render courteous assistance to VA Hospital employees, patients, and visitors and provide safety escorts for visitors and/or employees during hours of darkness upon request within the designated area of assignment. Additionally, unarmed security Guards complete witness reports as required and report all security incidents and potential criminal violations to VA Police.

Successful candidates possess a valid driver's license and can obtain an unarmed guard certification within the first thirty days of employment. Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience demonstrating the ability to meet and deal with the public professionally and maintain poise and self-control under stress. Candidates must be able to read, understand, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, and instructions in English. The ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports of incidents occurring on his/her tour of duty; and the knowledge, ability, and experience to communicate via two-way radio (walkie-talkie) with a dispatch center.


Physical Requirements: Have good distant vision in each eye and the ability to distinguish basic colors; be able to hear the conversational voice; Posses complete and functional limbs; Posses emotional and mental stability; Possess the ability to walk or stand for long periods as the situation dictates; Project a favorable image of protective authority through alertness, appearance, and competent performance of duty.
