Job Skills / Requirements

The Manger, Operations is a frontline leadership position that is responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with first line supervision (SDMs, SCTRs, and Compliance Officers), as well as the counterpart Manager of Service Delivery (MSD) within CATSA.  

Responsibilities

  • Must be expertly trained and proficient in performing emergency and/or incident response when escalations are required. 
  • Must exercise an innate understanding of. Customer service excellence and be capable of responding to complaints as they are escalated, as well as providing on the line support where required by an SDM or line lead. 
  • Will work closely with the People and Culture department to ensure that candidates being deployed for CATSA training and then on the job training with Paladin are arriving with their requisite skills, experience, and training to successfully pass their probation periods without negatively impacting the proficiency of Paladin’s screening operations for CATSA. 
  • The Operations Manager will be an important source of information used to adjust our people and culture practices from a talent acquisition, as well as training and development perspective. 
  • Working with labour relations experts to produce an engaged workforce capable of exceeding CATSA deliverables. 
  • Perform in depth investigations of performance and misconduct issues with support of the manager, employee care, labour relations and their advisors. Operations Managers will ensure that all investigative steps are followed including: 
    • Collect data, facts, and evidence; 
    • Establish the sequence of events leading up to the occurrence; 
    • Analyze and integrate available information; 
    • Develop findings and conclusions; 
    • Determine the significance of the findings; 
    • Write the investigation report; 
    • Present the report to management. 
  • The Operations Manager will lead all performance reviews for screening officers with feedback from SDM's. 
  • Will work closely with our proposed compliance officers to perform audits of particular screening processes (As mandated by CATSA SOP's) where Paladin requires improvement in relation to specific KPI's and then direct the manager of training and development and SCTRs by extension to address individual and team-based deficiencies in a proactive manner. 
  • The Operations Manager will work closely with the Field Managers and Portfolio Resource Coordinators within Paladin’s Operations Centre for CATSA to coordinate the movement of screening officers between different checkpoints to minimize security screening wait times. 
  • Conduct security briefings with SDMs and screening officers to ensure that all security notices, security bulletins and security contractor's directives are adhered to. 
  • Overall, the Operations Manager must be capable of aligning all operational screening roles with Paladin's CARE culture to drive continuous improvement, accountability, respect and excellence. 
Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years managerial experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role of resource deployment 
  • Previous experience in aviation security or a related field
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
  • Ability to successfully complete Occupational First Aid Level 1
  • A related diploma or Bachelor's degree would be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions in real-time
  • Familiarity with aviation industry regulations and standards
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to acquire Transportation Security Clearance (TSC)
  • Ability to successfully complete Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) Training and obtain D/A certification
  • Ability to successfully complete Aeronautical Radio Operator's Certificate (A-ROC)
Salary: $90,000 - $95,000

Work Hours: These are 24/7 positions, so candidates are required to have open availability to work morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts.
