The Manager of Training and Development will oversee a team of Security Contractor Training Representatives (SCTRs) as prescribed by CATSA to support the National Training & Certification Program, including the One Hour Non-Screening Time for Security Officers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all Screening Officers and Managers complete internal CATSA curriculum and external Paladin training.
- Ensure that training is used to monitor prospective staff as part of Paladin’s 12-step hiring process and provides relevant feedback to the Talent Acquisition Manager as to whether the candidate is suitable to proceed through the training process during pre-assignment training and On-the-Job Training managed by Paladin.
- Collaborate with Operations Directors and Managers to create and evolve site-specific training, mentorship programs, and succession planning to enhance our retention and people development practices to produce the most efficient screening operations possible.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Employee Care to incorporate constructive feedback from Screening Officers experiencing performance issues and from exit interviews to adjust the training program to prevent others from experiencing the same issues in an effort to decrease employee turnover.
- Infuse technology into our CATSA Training Programs, including virtual training via remote meeting applications such as Microsoft TEAMS, Paladin’s Learning Management System, as well as industry-leading Virtual Reality Training on French/English Bilingualism, Customer Service Experience that will cover a range of topics, including scenario-based training on how to navigate a variety of situations where Screening Officers will encounter members of the public and or airport employees where protected grounds and possible litigation can occur.
- Perform several quality assurance functions or audits, including measurement and reporting of training administration, certifications, and security clearances to ensure compliance.
- Maintain weekly and monthly training schedules in support of the Talent Acquisition Department and Operations for both YVR and Regional Airports.
- Manage all relationships with any third-party or external training contractors (i.e., First Aid).
Requirements
- Post secondary education in Adult Learning, Communications, Business Management, Human Resources or related field
- Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of Training and Development experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in adult learning and training delivery
- Ability to coach, correct and mentor Screening Officers
- Ability to work with others in a team environment and independently
- Strong attention to detail and quality with the ability to meet competing deadlines
- Flexible to work within a 24/7 operation in which schedules could change as per training requirements and operation
- Ability to acquire Transportation Security Clearance (TSC)
- Fluency in French would be considered an asset
- Aviation-related experience including working with various stakeholders within the aviation industry
- Experience with Online Learning Management Systems (LMS)
This position is fully based at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000
