Job Purpose

Under minimal supervision, plans, directs and coordinates activities in supply chain including purchasing and planning. Oversees policies and procedures for overall supply chain management. Provides purchasing support for acquisition of capital equipment and/or facilities. Management of identifying and developing the supply chain for new components, products and markets, both internationally and domestically.  Evaluates supply options for strategic advantage in quality, cost and delivery. Ensures supply chain procedures comply with Whip Mix procedures and policies, including ISO standards. Work closely with product management teams, engineering, research and development, as well as manufacturing and financial departments to create and execute a supply chain strategy that meets cost, quality, and lead time goals.

Operates independently to negotiate supplier contracts and identify ways of mitigating supply chain risk for the entire company. Obtains supplier quotations, issuance of purchase orders, develops supply chain by including considerations of distribution and logistical efficiencies, and collaborating on inventory accuracy. Knowledgeable in international business practices/customers, including import and export requirements. Have a sound understanding of business law, legal contracts and various financial statements.

Job Functions and Responsibilities  

 

1.

Evaluates and improves supply chain management practices to gain strategic advantages.  Develops internal processes to ensure compliance with ISO procedures, FDA regulations, and company policies. Oversees the Purchasing and Planning activities and develops plans, policies and procedures.           (Essential)

Identify and evaluate sources for new and existing components, products and equipment for manufacturing and distribution. Work with the Engineering, Product Development, and Operations teams on material improvements or substitutions to mitigate supply chain concerns. Maintain inventory levels to meet manufacturing requirements and company goals.                                                           (Essential)

Trains purchasing and planning team on their core functions. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Work with the Operations team to understand where raw materials are needed, how shortages impact the team, and how to work around supply chain constraints in a way that least negatively impacts manufacturing and the ability to ship product.                                        (Essential)

Monitors supply chain performance for quality, cost and delivery through reporting functions. Proactively manage vendor relationships and negotiate major vendor contracts and pricing. Lead and direct Sales & Operations Planning programs. Work with the accounting team on any vendor invoice discrepancies or ERP system entries associated with purchasing and receiving.                                                                      (Essential)
