Under routine supervision, weighs formulas, loads mills, loads IBC’s, drives a forklift and a variety of other tasks related to the production of gypsum and phosphate based products

Job Functions and Responsibilities
Load and unload mills and delivers samples to Quality Control Lab - 40%
Operates all equipment associated with blending chemical products. This includes mills, IBC’s and IBC tumbler, scales, loading platforms, Hammer mill, and vacuum/ dust control systems. Performs routine maintenance, repairs, adjustments and cleaning of equipment. - 20%
Prepares formulas for loading mills, includes weighing chemicals, color shots and base materials. - 15%
Drives fork truck to perform a variety of mill room functions. - 10%
Thoroughly cleans mills to protect from product contamination. - 5%
Maintains cleanliness of chemical work areas including equipment and mills. -5%
Maintains inventories on chemicals, color shots and raw materials. - 5%
Performs other functions or duties as assigned.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Worker Characteristics
Ability to wear a respirator
Knowledge of mill production functions such as blending formulas, operating equipment, weighing formulas, loading and unloading mills
Ability to lift 50lb and 100lb drums and bags above the waist
Ability to climb ladders and steep stairways
Ability to operate a fork lift and obtain a fork lift license
Ability to read formulas, literature and labels
Must possess basic computer skills
Math and reading skills sufficient to read and calculate manufacturing orders and set and operate scales for weighing product ingredients
Follow all safety guidelines for production and equipment procedures (ie. Lock Out/ Tag Out, Confined Space Entry)
Ability to hear warning sounds of fork lifts
Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform repetitive scooping, brushing, bending in performing mill production functions
Ability to read labels on packaging and to use scales to weigh finished packaging
Summary Education & Experience Required
High school diploma or GED and six to twelve months of production experience.
Working Conditions
- Daily exposure to extremes of temperature working in a non-climate controlled environment with excessive noise and dust levels. Continually exposed to the potential hazards of chemical burns and fork lift traffic in mills.
- Some products handled and packaged contain silica, and in some circumstances the operator is required to wear a negative pressure respirator.
- Potential hazards of exposure to pinch points.
