Job Purpose
Oversees the Accounting activities of the Company.  Assists in financial planning and directs the budgeting effort.  Establishes and administers financial reporting systems.  Responsible for product costing and valuation of assets.  Consults with management regarding financial impact of strategic planning. Mentors staff, plans training and Team Member development to meet departmental goals and budgeting.

Job Functions and Responsibilities / Estimated % of Time
 | 1. | As manager of the Accounting Department, coordinates daily activities of cash management, A/R, A/P, journal entries and purchasing of supplies and services.  Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures related to these activities.  | 25%
 | 2. | On-going stewardship of standard cost system, including review, maintenance and analysis of overhead rates and variance analysis. | 25%
 | 3. | Evaluates and assists in planning for acquisition, new ventures and capital expenditures. Evaluates and assists other departments in annual processes, such as benefit plan renewal analysis, customer price increases, etc.  | 10%
 | 4. | Develops and produces timely financial reports at all organizational levels.  Provides interpretation on regular basis. Champions and owns the technological tools used by the department for maximum efficiency of work.  | 10%
 | 5. | Manages annual budget process, which includes scheduling due dates, managing in’s and out’s and the overall analysis of the finished budget. | 10%
 | 6. | Completes tax returns, surveys, and other financial reports required by governmental entities on a timely basis. | 10%
 | 7. | Oversees asset depreciation schedule. Ensures document retention is in accordance with internal and external policies.  | 5%
 | 8. | Maintains good working relationships with financial service providers including auditors, bankers, creditors, and corporate counsel.  | 5%
 | 9. | Performs other functions or duties as assigned.  | 0%
   
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Worker Characteristics
  • Advanced accounting knowledge required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office as well as experience working in an ERP and similar systems required.   
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact daily with all team members within the company. 
  • Supervisory abilities to organize team member duties and responsibilities, monitoring productivity, providing feedback and coaching for development.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey information to team members and broader audiences in an effective and professional manner.
 
Summary Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field required.
  • CMA or CPA preferred.
  • At least Five (5) years of progressive supervisory and financial responsibilities preferred.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
 
Working Conditions
     
Typical office environment within a manufacturing environment.  Minimum travel required.
