We are seeking a 1ST SHIFT Quality Inspector

Pay Range:         $19.00- $24.00 an hour

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

Job Purpose
     
Initiates, cooperates, or participates fully as appropriate in using the team approach to solving problems and suggesting improvements that enable Whip Mix to live up to its mission and values.
 
Performs essential WIP and assists with First Part/First Article inspections of mechanical parts in a precision machine shop setting.  Measures and documents dimensional characteristics utilizing analytical, technical, and surface plate inspection methods.  Establishes and maintains records as evidence of compliance with ISO and company requirements.  Supports machine shop with other duties to ensure customers receive quality products on time.

 Job Functions and Responsibilities   
 
 | 1. | Performs inspection on incoming received parts and tooling to determine conformance to specifications using all types of standard mechanical and computer setups. Ensures product quality and takes appropriate action when non-conformances are identified. Assists with the investigation of non-conforming parts to determine root causes. Records inspection results in a quality database and reports discrepancies to engineering, production, and management. Responsible for following quality system procedures.  Monitors the Ship-to-Stock program of supplier performance and verifies proper certifications received.  Keeps accurate records and performs computer transactions in a timely manner.  Communicates and works directly with machine operators, leads, assembly, and engineering personnel.  |  40%
 | 2. | Assists with first part/first article inspections using a variety of precision mechanical setups and fixtures to determine conformance to specifications and suitability for use. | 10%
 | 3. | Assists with inspection of machined parts to determine conformance to specifications using all types of standard mechanical and computer setups. Ensures product quality and takes appropriate action when non-conformances are identified. Assists with the investigation of non-conforming machined parts to determine root causes. Records inspection results in a quality database and reports discrepancies to engineering, production, and management. |  40%
 | 4. | Assists in other areas to support shop/assembly as needed, including measurement studies/help and quality procedures. | 10%
 | 5. | Conduct all activities fairly and ethically that comply with corporate policies.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Supports safety as a priority of equal importance with quality, cost, and delivery in all projects. |  
 
Job Requirements
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Worker Characteristics
·         Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
·         Computer skills, including basic knowledge of MS Office products, an ERP system, and the Internet.
·         Strong communication and team skills
·         Basic Mechanical skills.
 

Summary Education & Experience Required
  • Training and experience equivalent to 0 -2 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a quality inspection role.
  • ASQ Quality Inspection certification is desirable.
  • Able to read and understand material handling reports, manufacturing orders, and complex work instructions.
  •  Knowledge of basic dimensional measurement equipment used in a quality inspection department and/or manufacturing environment, including fixed and variable gages, indicators, surface plate and associated measuring and fixturing equipment, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Able to determine part acceptability by performing mechanical and visual inspections with sound judgment.

Schedule/Hours:             Monday - Friday 6:00a - 2:30p

Pay Frequency:               Bi-Weekly
