Job Skills / Requirements
Performs repetitive operations on small standardized parts to close tolerances using basic machine shop equipment, including but not limited to drills, mills, lathes, presses, grinders, tumblers and sanders.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
1. Recognizes defective tooling, machine malfunctions and dimensional deviations. Makes minor machine set-ups and keeps fixturing clear of chips to insure proper positioning of work. Removes chips and performs simple maintenance procedures. Responsible for following quality system procedures. Assists in procedure development when required. Ensures product quality and takes appropriate action when non-conformances are identified. Maintains accurate records, as required. Responsible for accurate documentation of all work performed.
2. Assists co-workers in various job functions. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
3.Conduct all activities in a fair, ethical manner which is in compliance with all corporate policies. Performs other functions or duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Possess working knowledge of machine operations, materials and production standards.
Reads blueprints and understands measuring procedures
Uses scales, calipers, micrometers, direct reading and fixed gauges to measure work.
Knowledgeable in working with Polishers
Competent in basic math skills, i.e. shop arithmetic
Possess language skills sufficient to allow reading of written instructions and the ability to leave a written log for subsequent shifts or co-workers
Must have working knowledge of machining operations, materials, production standards and measuring instruments.
Must read blueprints and understand measuring procedures
Summary Education & Experience Required
High school graduate or equivalent
Vocational or high school education may be supplemented by on the job training plus one to two years of applied machine ship experience.
Working Conditions
Daily exposure to the noise levels, dust, odor and potential dangers of tools and equipment in a typical machine shop/assembly production area.
Overtime may be required
Hearing and ear protection may be required in specified areas.
