Job Skills / Requirements
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.) Assists in the development, implementation, and operation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other applications necessary to manage data associated with the various processes and programs of the Laboratory Services Section.
2.) Receives samples into the laboratory and logs samples into LIMS adhering to established procedures and sample receipt guidelines.
3.) Maintains sample storage area and sample disposal procedures.
4.) Relinquishes samples to third parties and/or vendor laboratories using established procedures.
5.) Enters data into LIMS and other departmental database(s), files, and/or spreadsheets.
6.) Researches and compiles data using various software programs. Queries and exports data to third party applications.
7.) Tracks data as directed and assists in interpreting data reports for trends and/or outliers.
8.) Develops and generates reports using various applications. Prepares, reviews, and distributes completed regulatory reports, including, but not limited to: National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs), Drinking Water Monthly Operating Reports (MORs), and other required submittals. ·
9.) Files required paperwork, records, reports, and forms. Maintains/ develops document storage and retrieval procedures.
10.) Creates graphs, tables, and other visual aids as needed for training, reporting, record keeping, and analysis.
11.) Acts as a quality control liaison for data collection and tracking processes throughout Spartanburg Water.
12.) Develops necessary forms, documents, and procedures to ensure proper data and document control within the Laboratory Services Section.
13.) Maintains and tracks inventory for the Laboratory Services Section including laboratory equipment and office supplies. Informs appropriate personnel of inventory needs and orders as directed.
14.) Assists with administrative activities (phone, mail, filing, bulletin board, timekeeping, greeting and signing in visitors, etc.) as needed.
15.) Perform other duties as requested.
Requires a high school diploma with minimum 2 years experience working in an administrative or clerical setting using data management skills in Microsoft Office applications, databases, and networking. An Associate degree or higher in Computer Technology, Environmental Science, or related field is preferred. Prefer experience in administrative / customer relations, environmental laboratory operations, Laboratory Information Management Systems, and Crystal Reports, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid driver's license.
