Overview

Under normal supervision, performs activities in the proper treatment/ handling/ transporting of solids generated by SSSD facilities. Assists in training and oversight of solids operations as delegated. Reports to Lead Operator responsible for solids operations.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
 
Under normal supervision, performs activities in the proper treatment/ handling/ transporting of solids generated by SSSD facilities. Provides assistance in the operation of the WWT facilities as
directed. Reports to Lead Operator responsible for solids operations.
 
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Collects necessary samples and log/manifest information and maintains required information in a computer.
 
Operates vacuum pumper truck/tanker truck in pumping digesters, scum boxes, trash and grit chambers, wet wells, etc. at SSSD facilities.
 
Operates equipment necessary to perform duties; performs preventive and minor corrective maintenance as necessary to maintain equipment in proper and safe working condition, reporting major repair needs to supervisor.
 
Utilizes and operates various machines and solids treatment/conditioning equipment to include centrifuge, belt filter press, air compressor, mechanical tools, vacuum pumper truck, tanker truck, dump truck, back hoe, pumps, etc.
 
Collects Biosolids samples according to EPA procedures and QA/QC protocol as directed, and log/manifest information. Maintains required information in a computer.
 
Assist in the operation of any/all aspects of the solids handling activities and biosolids program as directed.
 
Provides assistance in plant operations and emergency situations as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
 
 
 
 
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
 
Requires high school diploma with a minimum of one to two years of experience in wastewater operations, collection systems, basic maintenance and construction, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must obtain a valid Class B COL with tanker endorsement within 120 days of employment. Must have basic computer skills necessary to input and retrieve data. Must obtain first aid/CPR certification.
