Job Skills / Requirements

MAINTENANCE TECH I

Under general supervision, assists in operation and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and equipment for all remote collection and distribution facilities. Conducts inspections on a routine basis on all building, grounds and equipment at each location, Performs electrical and mechanical equipment installation, repair, and maintenance duties; performs preventive maintenance as necessary Operates various heavy maintenance equipment as necessary. Reports to the Collection and Distribution Maintenance Coordinator or assigned Manager.

 

MAINTENANCE TECH II

Under general supervision, assists in operation and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and equipment for all remote collection and distribution facilities. Conducts inspections on a routine basis on all building, grounds and equipment at each location, Performs electrical and mechanical equipment installation, repair, and maintenance duties; performs preventive maintenance as necessary. Operates various heavy maintenance equipment as necessary. Reports to the Collection and Distribution Maintenance Coordinator or Facilities Maintenance Manager

 

MAINTENANCE TECH III

Under minimal supervision, directs, oversees, and trains level I and II Maintenance Technicians in performing maintenance and repair duties. Participates in the maintenance and repair activities to Collection and Distribution pumping stations, elevated and ground storage tanks and other assigned facilities and all related accessories ensuring compliance with all governing codes and regulations. Ensures proper implementation of maintenance activities. Monitors and accesses information from computer, prepares records and reports, maintains inventory, and performs related administrative duties. Oversees assigned special projects and major equipment rebuilds or repairs by assigning work, acquiring parts and securing equipment required to complete the work. Reports to the C&D Maintenance Coordinator or Facilities Maintenance Manager.

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 

MAINTENANCE TECH I

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Must possess a valid driver's license and obtain First Aid/CPR certification. Must obtain crane certification within one year of the date of hire.

 

MAINTENANCE TECH II

High school diploma or equivalent with vocational or technical school training in mechanic shop, plumbing, welding, electrical systems, or related areas; or a minimum of three years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain First Aid/CPR Certification. Must be able to perform all job duties at the Technician I level.

 

MAINTENANCE TECH III

High school diploma or equivalent with vocational or technical school training in mechanic shop, plumbing, welding, electrical systems, or related areas; or a minimum of three years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain and maintain current a First Aid/CPR Certification and South Carolina backflow tester certification within a year after selection. Must be able to perform all job duties at the Technician I and II level.
