Overview
Highlands McDonald Ranch has a full-time opening for a Livestock Specialist on our beautiful 100+ acre ranch. The Livestock Specialist is expected to participate in a range of activities at the ranch including, but not limited to, working with livestock, grooming and taking care of cattle, mending and building fences and gates, basic repair and maintenance, minor building, and construction projects as experience permits.

Degree in Agriculture preferred but not required.

Responsibilities
Livestock Management:
- Assist with pasture management, to include transferring livestock between pastures
- Care and handling of cattle, to include feeding, watering, vaccinations, etc.
- Brushing and grooming cattle
- Halter training calves
- Identify sick or otherwise underperforming animals
- Assist in the branding and tagging of calves
- Maintain and assist in the development of the farm infrastructure including fences and barns
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- Assist and monitor the transportation of livestock
Property Maintenance:
- Mowing
- Weed-eating
- Weeding
- Tree/limb removal
- Fence repair
Qualifications
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a farm environment
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

Additional Information / Benefits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,00 per year depending on experience
Expected hours: 40 per week
