Full-Time Assistant Area Manager
Pay: $20 an hour
Hours: 35+ hours per week/ day & evening
Location: Varies by client sites in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk
The Assistant Area Manager supports the daily operational functions of commercial cleaning contracts across multiple client sites. This role plays a key part in ensuring that cleaning services are delivered to the highest standard by assisting in team oversight, performing supply deliveries, supporting new hire training, inspecting building cleanliness, and filling in as needed for janitorial services. The position is field-based and requires excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Support
- Assist the Area Manager in executing daily and weekly operational plans across assigned accounts.
- May serve as a liaison between cleaning crews and the Area Manager at times.
- Monitor compliance with cleaning specifications and contract requirements.
2. Cleaning Support
- Perform hands-on cleaning duties when necessary to support the team, fill in during absences, or meet urgent client needs.
- Demonstrate proper usage of cleaning equipment and chemicals as part of operational excellence.
3. Supply Management
- Coordinate and perform delivery of cleaning supplies, equipment, and consumables to client buildings.
- Track and report inventory needs; communicate shortages to the Area Manager.
4. Training and Onboarding
- Help train new cleaning staff on safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and company expectations.
- Assist with retraining initiatives for existing staff to improve performance or address deficiencies.
5. Quality Control and Inspections
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of client facilities to ensure high standards of cleanliness and compliance with the scope of work.
- Document inspection findings and escalate concerns to the Area Manager.
- Follow up on corrective actions as necessary.
6. Communication and Reporting
- Maintain clear, professional communication with team members, managers, and occasionally clients.
- Submit timely updates, inspection reports, and incident logs to management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years of experience in commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance.
- 1 -2 years of some level of leadership.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 40 lbs. frequently.
- Able to work in varied building environments, including office spaces, restrooms, and industrial settings.
- Must be comfortable driving between multiple locations daily.
Work Schedule
- Flexible shifts depending on building needs, typically evenings and weekends.
- On-call availability may be required.

This job reports to the Area Manager or Regional Manager
This is a Full-Time position 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift, Weekends.
Travel is required consistently
