The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), based in Louisville, Kentucky, serve and work with mid-councils, congregations and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ in the  World.  The work at the Presbyterian Center is carried out by approximately 400 staff members in several national entities: Office of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Investment and Loan, Presbyterian Mission Agency, Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women and the Administrative Services Group.

Position Purpose:

The Development Specialist offers investments, sells loans, and provides financial consultation on capital projects to congregations, governing bodies, and Presbyterian related organizations and institutions.

This position is regular full-time, working from residence, and is available to interested candidates anywhere in the United States. 

Job Skills / Requirements

  1. Works with the Vice President, Sales & Marketing to meet sales goals, implement strategies, and complete the marketing plan.
  2. Develops relationships with individuals, congregations, governing bodies and related Presbyterian organizations with specific emphasis on the Korean constituency, by which the sales function can be completed.
  3. Provides technical and educational support to individuals, congregations, governing bodies and related Presbyterian organizations for offered investments.
  4. Provides technical and educational support to individuals, congregations, governing bodies and related Presbyterian organizations for capital projects.
  5. Engages in a continuing education program to improve skill level in relationship management, stewardship, church development and other areas related to the position.
  6. Responsible for special assignments as requested by the CEO and Vice President, Sales & Marketing.


Education:  Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: A minimum of three to five years of experience in sales and marketing.  Experience in a religious non-profit setting or financial institution is desirable. Experience in or understanding of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) ethos and structure is desirable.


  • Organizational/ time-management skills
  • Fluent and effective oral/ written communication skills in both Korean and English. 
  • Ability to close sales agreements effectively. 
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of lending, investing, and financial management. 
  • Understanding of PC technology, including spreadsheet and word processing capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to interact with ministers and lay leaders of the Church, as well as potential customers and/or investors with diverse backgrounds and personalities.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.

Work Schedule:  Normal work week is Monday through Friday with frequent weekend assignments to accommodate meetings and special work activities. The normal workday 8am – 5pm.

Working Conditions:  Normal office working conditions and hazards exist.  Incumbent may be required to lift boxes of materials weighing 5 to 10 pounds. Position requires sitting for extensive periods of time at the computer. Frequent travel is required.

The successful candidate must be capable of obtaining and holding appropriate professional registrations and licenses, including Series 63 and Series 7 Securities Registration.
