The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), based in Louisville, Kentucky, serve and work with mid-councils, congregations and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ in the  World.  The work at the Presbyterian Center is carried out by approximately 400 staff members in several national entities: Office of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Investment and Loan, Presbyterian Mission Agency, Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women and the Administrative Services Group.

Position Purpose:   Under the supervision of the Organizational Communications Manager, the Social Media Assistant will support the strategic communications plan for social media to raise awareness of the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) and its work.

This is a One-Year Term Contract Position, working part-time 18 hours per week, non-benefits eligible.   

The work schedule is Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 p.m. E.S.T. to 12 midnight E.S.T. and Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. E.S.T. to 1 a.m. E.S.T.



Job Skills / Requirements

  1. Monitor engagement and respond to questions/posts in partnership with Social Media Strategist and Organizational Community Manager.
  2. Implement the social media community guidelines as appropriate.
  3. Positions the PC(USA) to engage in relevant social media practices (that are constantly changing in the industry) by staying up to date with the latest social media and digital marketing trends.

Essential Position Requirements:

Education: Associate's degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field

Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in social media strategy/digital communications. 

Required Skills:  

  • Demonstrated experience in social media strategy.
  • Experience with native and third-party social media management and analytic platforms, such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media analytics and the ability to generate reports for laypeople.
  • Knowledge of social media policies and terms of service for all major platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer service skills, providing timely and professional monitoring/response to online comments.
  • Familiarity or strong desire to learn about the Presbyterian Church, its ethos, and polity.
  • Available to work remotely, and independently when necessary.
  • Requires the ability to work evening/weekend hours.

Helpful Skills: Knowledge of social media analytics. Fluency in languages other than English is helpful.
